Market Mincer Man
Mincer man provides the sound track to our early morning visits to the market.
I think mincer man is fantastic. He’s cute and he’s definitely got the moves. I’ve never seen or heard anything like this. Darling Man thinks he’s pretty ordinary — he says this is how his Dad chops meat.
I wanted to try to capture the get-down-and-groove sound of mincer man chopping. I may have gotten slightly carried away with the iMovies features. Bear with me. This is my first attempt at editing video. I took the footage on my aging Sony Cybershot, carrying Miss M in my other arm, so the footage is shaky. Think film noir meets Hollywood … in a Thai wet market.
So here in all his video glory is the star of our local market – mincer man!
And here, in all his feline glory is the market cat.
Mincer Man surprised the hell out of me on one of our early visits by walking up to me and saying in English: “Madam, do you see? The cat has different colour eyes.” (So you see, mincer man is smart as well as cute!)

Glad you like it. I had fun preparing the video.
What a great movie – chopping! Extraordinary knife skills. Must be an obvious Sundance candidate:)

Oh, OBVIOUSLY! I’m just waiting for the call from Sundance’s people. They’ll have to speak to my people, of course.

I think mincer man is talented.
And I’m obsessed with the cat too. I love how someone’s dressed him in a shirt that matches one of his eyes.
AWESOME! :). LOVE the editing! You made me smile!
I can’t really take credit for the editing. It’s an iMovie template. But I still love my first attempt at video editing!
Love the music, titles and credits!

I really love it here, Stephanie. I think we chose our base camp really well.
I’m glad I don’t have to do this everytime I want to cook bolognaise…or laab!
I found a similar, but much older, guy at one of the Chiang Mai markets.

He’s just about to add the sauces/flavouring. I wish I’d switched to video…oh, well. Yours is wonderful.

Oh, my guy is much better looking than your guy! (Not that I’m competitive in the slightest.)
Mincer man is the Tom Cruise of the meat underworld 😀
This is a good movie – it leaves you with a thirst for more chop-chop 😀
Cheers!
